FAQ’S

newly married couple kissing in woods

I get asked many questions and here are some answers to the most frequently asked ones.If you can’t find the answer you’re looking for use the contact form to get in touch with me.

What’s your style?

In a nutshell, my style is a blend of natural, stylish, story-telling photography with added creative portraits! Most of the day, I’m capturing what’s happening in a relaxed, natural way with an eye for detail. My fly on the wall approach to covering your wedding day means it’s all about you, not me. I won’t get all bossy on you, telling you where to stand or interrupt the day’s events telling you to look at the camera. Far from it! Your wedding day happens as you intended it – naturally flowing from one thing to the next without the need to stop for photos. I’ll be capturing things as they happen, real time, real moments, real emotions. I blend in, taking photos whilst everyone is enjoying the day, as I believe the best images are ones taken in a less obvious way. With simple story-telling coverage I also try to find creative and artistic ways to frame what I see, always going the extra mile to help, support and put my clients at ease.

Are you a full time wedding photographer?

Yes! I’ve been shooting weddings for 7 years, the last 4 years full time and I shoot weddings throughout the year, during the gorgeous soft summer light and during the winter when weddings are harder to shoot.

Do you take couples photos?

Absolutely yes!  Every couple deserves some beautiful, natural photographs of them on their wedding day so we’ll work some time into your day to get some lovely relaxed and creative images of you both.

We hate having our photo taken and are a bit nervous about what’s involved!

Most couples don’t actually like their photo being taken and feel a bit uncomfortable being photographed. Whether you shy away from or come alive in front of the camera, I promise we’ll get some lovely images of you both. No awkward poses, forced smiles or images that don’t look or feel like you. I’ll work with you, lightly directing you for just a short time to get some fabulous shots of you both.

How long will you stay?

As long as you want me there! Typically, I’m there from bridal prep all the way through to first dance and your party celebrations. However formal or informal your wedding will be, coverage can be tailored to suit your needs and if you want more or less coverage, we can agree what’s best for you.

Do you take group photos?

Yes!!  I’m happy to include a limited number of group shots, but try to avoid long lists of endless groups, which can take up a lot of time on your wedding day. I’d recommend limiting them to between 8 – 10 groups – that way I can get on with what I do best – capturing those lovely unscripted and unposed natural shots.

What happens next?

To book just call, email me or complete the contact form on my contact page and I’ll let you know within 24 hours if I’m available to shoot your wedding. If I am available, we’ll arrange a call so we can chat in detail about your plans and I’ll answer any questions you may have. Once we’ve agreed a package, chatted through how I work, what the important parts of your day are, and I’ve learnt a bit about you as a couple, I’ll send you my booking form to complete and pay the booking fee.

How do we book you?

Get in touch by email, phone or via my contact page and I’ll send you a booking form. Once completed with a booking fee of £300 paid to secure your date, you’ll then get a contract to sign and I’m all yours! Dates are booked up to 2 years in advance and I can’t hold dates without the booking form and fee paid. The balance is payable 4 weeks before your wedding date.

What if it rains?

If it rains, it rains! We’ll embrace the rain, or snow, or sunshine… whatever comes our way, we’ll make the most of it on the day!

Should we book an engagement or pre wedding shoot?

It’s not a necessity, but some couples really want to experience what it’s like being photographed before their wedding day and of course it’s a great way to learn a bit more about each other. Couples that have had sessions always tell me how fab they are and how much they’ve enjoyed them. If you decide to have one, we can agree on a suitable location that will inspire us both. We can go rural or urban and you can dress up or down.

Will you travel?

Totally. Absolutely. Yes. Yes. Yes!!!  My camera bag has wheels and will travel anywhere I go! Anywhere across the UK and abroad.  I’ve been lucky enough to shoot weddings all over the country and overseas so I’d LOVE to hear from you however far away you are.

How many photographs will we get?

On average you’ll receive a minimum of 400 images.

Can we have a mixture of colour and black & white?

Yes! I always provide a good mixture of both and am happy to provide more of one or the other if you have a preference.

How long will it take to receive our photographs?

Usually within 4 weeks after your wedding, but during peak times up to 6-weeks max. I will usually provide a preview within the first 2-3 weeks after your wedding. If you order an album, once your album is designed and the proofs signed-off, it will take about 4 weeks to print and deliver.

Can we have an album or photobook?

Of course! My album companies are as passionate about their craft as I am about photography and I’ve chosen them because they produce beautiful albums using quality papers and materials. Albums and books are available from £495. You don’t have to buy one if you don’t want one but I’ll show you the options available if you do.

Do you offer reduced rates for weekday weddings or low season?

Yes, I do have some flexibility in my pricing for Mon-Thu weddings and low season (Nov to March) so get in touch.

Are you insured?

I am fully insured with equipment, professional indemnity and public liability insurance. I’ll confirm this in the contract. If your venue requires confirmation of insurance, please let me know.

What happens if you’re ill?

It’s a question I’m often asked! Photographers can’t give a 100% guarantee they won’t be ill. I can only assure you that it would take a serious illness or catastrophe to prevent me from attending your wedding. If this were to happen, I work very closely with a select number of amazing wedding photographers who have very similar styles to my own and I’d do my utmost to find a suitable replacement for you, to step in at short notice. Rest assured, I take my obligation and commitment to your wedding day very seriously and thankfully, I’ve not missed a wedding yet!

Get in contact via the contact form if you’d like to check my availability, discuss your wedding plans or to book.
